Electronic Duo Rendezvous' New Single "The Murf"

It does not matter if things already went viral without me, what matters is that we DO eventually see the wonderful things on the Internet and share:

Rendezvous - The Murf from Scott Benson on Vimeo.

Electronic duo Rendezvous follow up their underground hit "C Sharp" with a slice of smart, leftfield electro in their new single "The Murf." Another track from their now eagerly awaited debut album, Another Round Please, the song has already made headlines including on CBS news thanks to a stunning video that has gone viral (clocking up 150,000 views and counting in the space of a couple of weeks): Video "The Murf" - A Story about Growing Up In the Universe.

“Accompanied by a series of remixes, The Murf is expected to be a big club chart success. Carl Cox recently featured the band on a 2CD compilation for Space wherein he included one of the two remixes he contributed to their last previous. This time around, John Digweed, Nick Muir, Loverush UK! and Timothy Allan are on remix duties. With massive coverage already in place on key radio shows, including , and from the likes of tastemaker's bible, DJ Mag, Rendezvous' popularity is only expected to grow further with The Murf.”

“When it comes to setting the tone for a brand new musically inspired movement, Rendezvous certainly has what it takes. Comprised of two talented musicians, Itai Simon and Hagai Izenberg, who have been collaborating since 2003, Rendezvous' work can be best described as instrumental and experimental, bringing together both retro sounds and depth as well as modern electronic beats and vibe to this contemporary world. Immediately after releasing their first EP in 2004 and generating a serious underground buzz, they began working on their full-length debut album, Another Round Please, a project that took them almost five years to complete. During the recording of their debut album, they teamed up with reputable mixer and producer, Dave Bascombe, who has previously worked with such bands as Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Suede, Manic Street Preachers and Erasure to name but a few. Dave Bascombe later on mixed the album at Metropolis Studios, London.”

Free Download: Armchair Generals

Flickr Tags:

Today is a good day, no a great day.  Don’t know how I got around to them today, but was thinking of the Armchair Generals because they are my neighbors:  They are from Long Beach and I am in San Pedro.  I wrote a little something about them when I first heard of them but it needed to be revisited and elaborated upon.

So, today here it is the free download from their forthcoming EP on the Davidance label.  That’s how we learned of Armchair Generals in the first place because I get notifications from Ahead PR which is what Davidance uses.  I wonder if they will use Ahead PR on their upcoming new release.  I will investigate and let you know.

“A great mix of soulful expressions and emotive organic rhythms,” said Marc LaCasse, “The subtle touches of soul and electronic are just the icing on the cake.”

The Armchair Generals have recently partnered with Altitude Media Inc. to premier their entire 2010 EP on US Airways flights. Along with an interview with the band’s lead vocalist and bassist Pernicia Jaye, Armchair Generals music will be heard on over 3,000 national and international US Airways flights with a potential to reach over 600,000 passengers throughout November and December.

The independent artists from Long Beach were recently nominated for two SoulTracks 2011 Readers' Choice Awards in the categories of Best Duo or Group and Best New Artists. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for the band’s upcoming profile on Bandcamp.

About Armchair Generals:

Formed in 2006, the Armchair Generals are a fast-emerging independent band from Long Beach, CA boasting an infectious mix of soulful house, dance, down tempo and electronic music. Their live performances are exciting, cozy and inclusive with a unique ambiance that loyal fans love. The band has released three albums since 2007 which are currently available on iTunes and CD Baby. They’ve been featured on Fusicology’s “What Is Good Music” compilation CD (October 2010) and have received notable media coverage from local print and online media including Live Long Beach Magazine, Uptown Gazette Newspaper, LB Post.com, Nu-SoulMag.com, SoulTracks.com, and more. Video: La Rochelle, "Sitar"

Having suspended my Empire Avenue account over the weekend, I am free, free, free now to explore more music which is what I love. This had been sitting in my In-Box and is definitely a “Jewel.” I love La Rochelle and this video is so much fun that I hope you don’t miss it!

Happy #MusicMonday, Family.  This entire album is very, very good as well! Here is the well-written biography and press release.

“Peter Cruseder is the main chef of La Rochelle´s sexy and funky tunes, enchanting you until a beaming smile and dancing feet are the only way forward. Peter Cruseder (electronics, keys) with Miss Gina Angel (voc) and Seimen Get (drums) rock the stage as an extraordinary live-act. Peter Cruseder Records: Aside from the live band, La Rochelle can also be heard on Peter’s own label. PCR is the dedicated launchpad for Cruseder´s various solo-projects along with La Rochelle.”

I couldn’t have written their press release any better:

La Rochelle “Sitar E.P.”

What the Hell it’s La Rochelle

“These smoking hot new Tracks by Peter Cruseder are gonna spin your head around and take your feet right off the ground. Fat 'n' Juicy House-beats combined with funky instrumentals are the ingredients that will burn down every party and jam pack the dance floor wherever you are. Right from the moment you hit the play button the signature title "Sitar" will come pouring out of your sound system and take you on a ride to a place where cool drinks, hot chicks and good vibes come together. So get on your feet, press play and enjoy the ride!!!”

Sun Ra Arkestra Live at Montreux 1976

If Granny ever saw this video, I forgot. I suggest that you watch it as soon as possible because many great videos disappear from YouTube without warning! Is there any wonder I love electronic music since I have been a fan of "electro" since 1970. :)

I just found this great article and biography online about Sun Ra, which I will not duplicate here. Very thorough: Sun Ra Brother from Another Planet

Share some love today!

Sarah Linhares 'Dirty Business' Live with Band ( prod. Moonstarr )

Let's go see Sara Linhares perform live. Never heard of her? Me either, so we can discover together. We're in the future and all this is possible with YouTube:

Sarah Linhares MFTF Press Release:

"Sarah comes up strong on her debut album with a future blend of raw soul and deep dirty cosmic beats. Public Transit Recordings and TheFutureIsNow Productions are thrilled to announce the debut full-length release of Sarah Linhares, 'MESSAGES FROM THE FUTURE'(MFTF), which came out in October 2011. MFTF brings you a blend of Sarah's fresh soulful vocals and gospel-inspired harmonies with dirty electronic beats, heavy synthesizers, thick bass-lines, and 8-bit cosmic dust. The record features collaborations with several talented producers/ musicians including Moonstarr, Kenlo Craqnuques, Sikh Knowledge, Think Twice, Aklimatize, Camplaix, pianist David Ryshpan, bassist Mark Haynes, drummer Anthony Pageot and vocalists Wayne Tennant and IamBlackgirl. Fans of Erykah Badu, Kissy Asplund,& J. Davey definitely take note!

Sarah Linhares Biography:

Sarah Linhares began her love affair with music at an early age through singing in her church choir. Since then, her musical inspiration has been shaped by an obsession with electronic music, membership in a multitude of gospel choirs, and performing and dancing to Afro-Brazilian Samba. This Portuguese-Irish Montrealer has a passion for expressing herself through music and dance, whether she's writing, recording, mixing vocals in her 'closet' studio or taking her place on stage, she always brings it. In 2006 she released Pura Vida on PTR after an extensive artist residency in Venezuela and was then selected to the 2007 Red Bull Music Academy. At RBMA she worked in the studio with Om'mas Keith from SA-RA and was encouraged to keep singing by Ethiopian Jazz master Mulatu Astatke. The entire experience initiated the creation of MFTF. In 2009 she released her first solo EP on PTR as a preview to her upcoming full-length and was featured on Japan's Cosmopolyphonic comp with mfp in 2010.
